- I bought the book - Getting Things Done by David Allen.

- Read the first 2 (two) chapters.
- My inbox gathering and emptying skills are already greatly improved, but I’m still trying to figure out what some of my other “trusted buckets” are. Like the old song said… “There’s a hole in the bucket.”
- Noticed that Michael Hyatt has a section of his blog Working Smart - with tips about GTD.

I’m excited about Getting Things Done, the book by David Allen. (Amazon link.) GTD is Getting Things Done - see definition of GTD. I’m already getting more things done, because I’m more organized, and haven’t even read the book yet. I’ve read a couple reviews, outlines, and summaries of the principles and main ideas from the book. That was enough to jump start me into a new way of thinking and working. Here’s what’s happening:
- Learned a better way to manage my inbox(es).
- A smarter way to manage my project lists and to-do lists.
- I am better organized and more focused on my goals.
- That’s all for today — I have to run, and Get Things Done!
We’ll come back to this topic in a couple weeks and see what other progress I can report.

I stumbled upon this interesting article this morning: How to Be a Programmer. But it is not all about bits and bytes and has an interesting section on How to Utilize People as Information Sources. If you are a real geek (as in nerdy geek), you might need to read How to Talk to Non-Engineers. And here is a real gem: How to Document Wisely…
” Life is too short to write crap nobody will read; if you write crap, nobody will read it.”

Another research topic… I’m taking some notes here, so I can come back to this topic later. Paul Stamatiou talks about the new WordPress blog he installed for Yahoo, (Yodel Anecdotal) as part of his summer internship at Yahoo. Apparently Paul decided to implement the random image rotator developed / explained / recommended by Dan Benjamin. You can read more about this image rotator (and see it in action) over at Automatic Labs.
I also recalled reading about another Image Rotator and Randomizer that I had stumbled across — over at Photo Matt (Matthew Mullenweg’s) a while back. Matt’s Random Image script is here. Not sure what the differences are between these various scripts, but one day when I get a chance to read the source code for each, I’ll see if there is any big diff.
